Questions and Answers

Are these antimicrobials suitable when breastfeeding?
Very few are safe; ginger and s boulardii but that is all.
How about wild garlic? (ramsons)
Garlic can feed SIBO which is why we recommend Allicin.
Do you have any book recommendations for reading more on SIBO please?
Rather than books, as remember most books are out of date by print, look at research published by:
Steven Sandberg-Lewis
Alison Siebecker
Dr Nirali Jaccobi
Is there a correlation of SIBO and appendix removal?
Yes as it is surgery to the absominal cavity and can affect microbial balance.
Maybe if client has SIBO-D ,maybe its not a good idea to practice intermittent fasting?
Yes may be less effective. You have to look at each individual though.
Is the resource library the same on the ROI website please? Thanks
Yes it is.
Have you ever come across elevated B12. I have a client I suspect SIBO (intending to do tests) with elevated B12 levels?
Yes remember B12 is synthesised by bacteria in the gut, therefore more bacteria, more B12, not really a useable B12 though.
How long did each plan 1-6 take for the patient?
It said at the top, Most were 4-6 weeks.
What SIBO test do you use?
Regenerus for breath test
Did you start the serrapeptase at the same time as the anti microbial with your case study?
Yes but serapeptase on an empty stomach
Do you use something like toxaprevent with the biofilm disrupter and the anti microbials to sweep away the die off?
In this case study I used liver support: Glutathione or milk thistle is a good option
I would like to know can a patient become resistant to antimicrobial herbs supplements? If so, how would you avoid antimicrobial resistance for a patient you are treating?
Yes which is why I often rotate them.
I have seen several webinars which recommended herbal anti-microbials. I would like to know what your view is on the product Megasporebiotic which is a entirely probiotic based approach to re-balancing the gut flora and eliminating SIBO. This appears to be an amazing and much simpler approach if it works and I am considering it for a client who says that she is intolerant of many herbs, but wonder what the evidence is behind it?
Megaspore is a very good product, but my experience is it can still exacerbate SIBO symptoms if added too soon, ie before bacteria is reduced enough.
The full spectrum test that was done for the case study discussed at the end, is that a functional DX test? Where or how are these tests done? Or is it a matter of referring a client to a gastroenterologist?
I often use functional dx, but for this client (it was in COVID) I couldn’t get a centrifuged blood test (which must have for dx) so I used Medichecks for this case study.
